Could you help Susan*?
Susan is 84 years old and has started to struggle with little things that so many of us find simple. She might struggle to follow simple steps such as following a recipe when cooking a meal or doing certain chores. She might also get muddled with peoples’ names. However, she loves to sing, and music seems to always cheer her up and remind her of special memories. She can get lonely from time to time as her children live so far away and she needs a bit more help round the house. Could you be the person to make a difference to Susan?
As a Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion you would be supporting an older adult like Susan in their own home with their daily routines, helping them stay independent for as long as possible. Each visit is no less than an hour, you would be carefully matched to the person you will be supporting, and you will be kept as close to home as possible. The role can include:
- Assisting with morning & evening routines.
- Assisting with personal care where required.
- Prompting to take any medications.
- Taking them out shopping or for some exercise.
- Preparing meals and light household duties.
- Being a reliable companion and someone, they can rely on.
