Care Assistant & Companion, Burton-on-Trent

£9.20 - £19.40 per hour

Part-time hours, 10-25 hours per week

Are you looking for a rewarding career? Would you like to make a difference to the life of an older person and someone like Mary*? There is no upper age limit and becoming a Care Assistant & Companion could be perfect for you.

We have part-time jobs available in Burton on Trent, Barton-under-Needwood, Tutbury, Anslow, Yoxall, Repton and Willington areas of Staffordshire. No experience is required as excellent training is provided. It is preferred that you have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Mary* is 80 years old, she has lived on her own since her husband, Jim, died 5 years ago and has always been independent. Last year, Mary had a fall whilst out shopping and it knocked her confidence somewhat. She stopped going out and even became scared of the stairs in her own house and would often sleep on the sofa rather than go to bed. Mary* is typical of someone you would support, she still wants to get out and about, but confidence stops her, that is where you come in. You would help her with daily routines that have become harder for her but also take her out and keep her independent and doing the things she has always done. This would be things like helping her to get up in a morning, washed and dressed or helping her with meal preparation. Going shopping with her on a Friday, or taking her to the hairdressers every Wednesday maybe? Or even helping her up to bed at night. This is a truly rewarding role and the feeling of knowing you have helped someone is like no other.

Please note, there may be elements of personal care involved in this role.

Benefits & Hours:

  • If you have availability early mornings, lunchtimes, afternoons, evenings and every other weekend, then this position is ideal for you (we cannot offer school hours or full-time hours due to the nature of the work);
  • Comprehensive welcome programme;
  • Excellent training is provided;
  • You will be making a difference every day and making a friend;
  • They value their staff and their development, so they offer continuous training and support, with excellent progression opportunities. So, this could be the first step towards a rewarding career.
