We are looking for enthusiastic and caring people to become a Children’s Support Worker close to the Stevenage area of Hertfordshire. This is a unique opportunity to join an outstanding service where you can change a child’s life but also achieve a rewarding career.

Although it is not essential that you are a car driver, this job will require you to have a reliable and regular transport service, so access to a vehicle would be preferable. However, the role will also suit applicants living in Royston, Hitchin, Letchworth, Cambridge and nearby areas, as commutable transport link are available via the Thameslink train routes and around the A1, A505 and M11 motorway. Accommodation can also be provided if it is required.

Our client is an organisation which was founded by a CEO who is a passionate advocate for children & young adults with severe and profound learning difficulties. When he set up his company, he founded it saying “Things can be done better. We can make a difference.” The service is expanding and growing, so they can support even more children. You would be part of a school and residential service that provides education, care and therapeutic support for children and young people living with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties. This site has fantastic facilities for children including a hydrotherapy pool, sensory equipment and beautiful grounds allowing them to grow and flourish in their own unique way.

What does the role involve?

A Support Worker is both helper and friend to the children you will support. In the morning you will help them get dressed, encourage them with personal care, and assist with their breakfast. After school or on weekend shifts, you’d encourage them to participate in activities and hobbies like going to the park, playing games and hydrotherapy. You will be pivotal in helping create a positive future for the children, a feeling like no other.

  • Full, part and flexible hours;
  • Day and night shifts available;
  • £8.75 - £9.70 per hour DOE (£17,745 - £19,670 per annum);
  • Night shift salary, £20,475 - £22,400 per annum;
  • Days – 7:30am – 9pm, some shifts 6 hours, some 12 and a half, 4-week rota of 14 shifts;
  • Nights - 8.45pm-8:15am, 4-week rota;
