Becoming a Dementia Care & Companions is such a rewarding role and in this current in the “staying safe” period, we need you more than ever in the Bicester, Banbury, Brackley, and surrounding areas of North Oxfordshire and South West Northamptonshire. Are you looking for a role where you can make a difference to someone in your local community, someone like Ethel*?
This could be the most rewarding role you ever take on especially with the current situation in the country. If you have a big heart and a positive personality, then becoming one of our Dementia Care & Companions could be perfect for you. It is essential that you are have a driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Ethel* is 81 years old, she has lived in on her own since her husband died 5 years ago and has always been independent. Last year, Ethel had a fall whilst out she was hanging her washing out and it knocked her confidence somewhat. She stopped going out and even became scared of the stairs in her own house and would often sleep on the sofa rather than go to bed. She also wouldn’t leave her house, not even into the garden in case she had another fall. Ethel* is typical of someone you would support. You would help her with daily routines that have become harder for her but also help to keep her independent and doing the things she has always done. This would be things like helping her with her morning, lunchtime, or evening routine. Getting her a bit of shopping, keeping her home tidy, helping to prepare meals and reminding her to take her medication. She also loves to get out in the garden and in the warmer months loves nothing more than a slice of cake, a brew and a natter in her lovely garden. It’s her pride and joy. She also loves a trip to the park, but she knows she can’t do this whilst we are social isolating.
