Could you help Anne*?
Anne is 85 years old and has started to struggle with little things that so many of us find simple. She might struggle to follow simple steps such as following a recipe when cooking a meal or do certain chores, she might also get muddled with peoples’ names. However, she does love to sing, and music seems to always cheer her up and remind her of special memories. She can get lonely from time to time though as her daughter lives a few hundred miles away and she needs a bit more help round the house. Could you be the person to make a difference to Anne?
As a Dementia Friend & Care Companion, you would be joining a very bespoke provider of companionship led care and support to older people living in their own homes. An award-winning provider, where they have one vision – to change the face of ageing and making a huge impact on people’s lives. The owner started the service after delivering care for this company and realising what a difference the service made to peoples’ lives. When the opportunity arose to open an office in his hometown, he realised how much he could help in his local community.
You will visit for a minimum of 2-hours and you will be carefully matched to older adults in your local area and you will support them to remain independent both in their own home and by keeping them active in the local community. This would include:
- Assisting with daily routines including getting up in the morning or to bed at night.
- Assisting with personal care.
- Prompting to take any medications.
- Taking them out shopping or for some exercise.
- Preparing meals and light household duties.
- Being a reliable companion and someone, they can rely on.
