Could you help Edie?
“Hello, my name is Edie, I am 86 years young and I have lived on my own since my husband, Tom, passed away 7-years ago. Last year I had a fall whilst out shopping and it shook my confidence. I stopped going out to the shops or into the garden on my own, and even became scared of going up the stairs to bed. I can get muddled with peoples’ names from time to time too and forget to do certain jobs. I am in the early stages of Dementia you see. Then along came Sarah, she’s an angel. She will help me with my daily routines and little things that have become more difficult. She will help me get up in the morning, finished getting dressed and make me some breakfast. On other days she will take me out for some fresh air, to the shops, and on rainy days we will bake together, I love a slice of cake and a natter. She might even help me up the stairs to bed in an evening and make sure I’m ok. I don’t know what I would do without Sarah, she brightens up my day and helps me keep living life to the full.”
As a Dementia Friend & Companion, you could be joining an award-winning homecare who focus on a bespoke companionship led care service. They have won multiple awards over the years and have built an excellent reputation within communities across the UK. This exceptional service is different to any other care organisation in the area, providing a minimum of 1-hour home visits, so you will not be rushed when with clients. The owner of the business has a passion to deliver a high quality of care to older people in the local community. He has seen the effect the service has had on his 92-year-old mother, who has been matched with brilliant Companions. They visit her twice a day and she will usually have her coat on waiting for their visit so they can go out for a coffee and a natter. However, the team are aware that her needs could grow at any time. This does not worry them because they have built up a great relationship with her.
