Could you help Iris*?

Iris is 83 years old and has started to struggle with little things that so many of us find simple. She might struggle to remember some of the ingredients for her favourite cake (she loves to bake) or to do certain chores, she might also get muddled with peoples’ names. She also loves to sing, and music seems to always cheer her up and remind her of special memories. She can get lonely from time to time though as her daughter lives away and she needs a bit more help round the house. Could you be the person to make a difference to Iris?

The Employer

You could be joining an award-winning provider who focus on a bespoke companionship led care service. They have won multiple awards over the years and have built an excellent reputation within communities across the UK. This exceptional service is different to any other care organisation in the area, providing a minimum of 1-hour home visits to a purely private client base, but the focus being on companionship. The Director started the service so that he could do something that would make a difference and after experiencing first-hand the difficulty of finding quality support for his immediate family, he knew this service could change the face of ageing in the local community.

Job Role

As a Dementia Friend & Companion, you would be carefully matched to the people you will be supporting. You would support an older adult in their own home with their daily routines and help them remain independent. The role can involve:

  • Assisting with morning & evening routines.
  • Assisting with personal care where required.
  • Prompting to take any medications.
  • Taking them out shopping or for some exercise.
  • Preparing meals and light household duties.
  • Being someone, they can rely on and trust.
