We are looking for both full and part-time Dementia Friends & Companions in the Newhall area of Derbyshire. No experience is required as excellent training will be provided. However, you must have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Location, Pay Rate & Hours
Because they provide care and support in older people’s homes in the community, they have job vacancies is Newhall, Melbourne, Swadlincote, Midway, Ashby de la Zouch, and surrounding areas of South Derby, Derbyshire. If you live in or around one of these locations, they’d like to hear from you.
- £9.70 - £9.90 per hour, Double pay bank holidays + mileage allowance.
- A mix of early mornings, lunchtimes, evenings, and alternate weekends hours available.
The owner of the business has a passion to deliver a high quality of care to older people in the South Derby area. The service provides a very bespoke person-centred care service that really does benefit the people they support. They do this by ensuring that every visit is no less than an hour, meaning they can really tailor the support received whether that be companionship, home help or personal care services. They take time to match carers and clients and you will stay with the same clients on an ongoing basis allowing you develop a strong bond.
The owner has seen the positive effects their service is having on his 92-year-old mother. She has been matched with brilliant Companions. They visit her twice a day, and she will usually have her coat on waiting for their visit so they can go out for a coffee. However, her Companions are aware that her needs could grow to more than companionship at any time. This does not worry them because they have built up a great relationship with her.
The main requirement is for reliable applicants with a kind, compassionate and caring nature. You will visit clients in their own homes and carry out a variety of duties, no two days will be the same. You will have regular clients who you visit so you can have a good work/life balance.
Duties may include: -
- Helping their clients to get out of bed, washed/showered and dressed/ undressed.
- Preparation of breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
- Shopping duties.
- Supporting clients with their medication.
- Help with light housework, laundry, vacuuming, ironing etc.
- Supporting any medical appointments as required.
- Engaging and stimulating clients through activities.
- Being a professional friend and treating clients with the respect.
