We are recruiting for full and part time Dementia Friends & Companions in the Woodley area of Berkshire. Experience in the sector is preferred, but full training is provided. However, it is essential that you hold a full driving licence and have access to your own car.
Because this homecare provider provides care visits in the community within people’s own homes, they have job vacancies throughout the area, in areas such as Woodley, Winnersh, Twyford, Early and surrounding areas. You would be carefully matched to clients as close to where you live as possible to keep any travelling to a minimum.
Pay Rates, Benefits and Hours
- £10.00-£11.50 per hour (£15.00 Bank Holidays & £20.50 Christmas & New Year).
- 25p per mile mileage allowance.
- 16, 24 & 30 hours available, GUARANTEED hours contract are available.
- Hours would be a mixture of early mornings, evenings, days and alternate weekends.

As a Dementia Friend & Companion, you would be part of a friendly team who see the same regular group of clients each week. They might have early onset Dementia or long-term health needs and the quality of care you provide could make a positive difference in their lives. Every day is different, but here is an example of what you would be doing.
- Helping someone to get out of bed in the morning or ready for bed in the evening.
- Helping with personal care including washing, dressing or assisting in the bathroom.
- Reminding them to take their medication.
- Collecting prescriptions or doing a little bit of shopping.
- Preparing a light meal, snack, or doing a little housework.
- Being a good, dependable person to rely on.
These are the things that we would do for a friend or relative, and things we would expect for ourselves as we get older, and they make a huge difference.
