My name is Amber, and I live in a shared house with 5 of my good friends. We all get along and I love the times we share when we have our Saturday afternoon music sessions. I have cerebral palsy and I really do struggle to do any of my day to day care without the help of my Care Assistant. I require help to get out of bed with a special overhead hoist, have a shower, get dressed, have my breakfast and I need regular medication throughout the day. I can’t verbally communicate so it is really important that my carer’s do understand me and what I need. I will try and make them understand through use of my eyes or a sound I try to make. I also suffer from Epilepsy and I can have regular seizures, I need the people who care for me to monitor these and to call an ambulance if I have them too often. I love the people who care for me, they make me safe and comfortable, they talk to me life a friend and they still give me choice and as much independence as they can so I can have as much control over my life as possible which is very important to me!
