£10.00 - £10.25 per hour plus double rate on Bank Holidays + mileage allowance
Part-time hours, evenings & weekends
Are you looking for a job where you can make a difference to someone like Irene*? Maybe you have considered Volunteer Jobs? There is no upper age limit for applications, becoming a Paid Volunteer, Befriender and Companion could be perfect for you.
We have part-time evening and weekend hours available in the Ashton-under-Lyne, Stockport and Tameside areas. No experience is required as excellent training is provided but you will need to have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle due to the nature of the role.
Irene* is 87 years old, she has lived in on her own since her husband died 11 years ago and has always been independent. Last year, Irene had a fall whilst out shopping and it knocked her confidence somewhat. She stopped going out and even became scared of the stairs in her own house and would often sleep on the sofa rather than go to bed. Irene* is typical of someone you would help, she still wants to get out and about, but confidence stops her, that is where you come in. You would help her with daily routines that have become harder for her but also take her out and keep her independent and doing the things she has always done. This would be things like helping her with her morning, lunchtime, or evening routine. Assisting with personal care where required and reminding her to take medication. Taking her shopping or to appointments, keeping her doing the things she loves. The feeling of knowing you have helped someone is like no other.
