Becoming a Befriender & Care Companion is such a rewarding role and in this current moment, we need you more than ever in the Burton-on-Trent area of Staffordshire. Are you looking for a role where you can make a difference to someone in your local community, someone like Wendy*?
This could be the most rewarding role you ever take on especially with the current situation in the country. You could be a local star and help the most vulnerable in the community, not just for the short term, but long-term. The feeling of knowing you have helped someone is a feeling like no other.
Come and join the best!
You could be joining an award-winning national brand who focus on a companionship led care service. They have won multiple awards over the years and have built an excellent reputation within communities across the UK. This exceptional service is different to any other care organisation in the area, providing a minimum of 1-hour home visits to a purely private client base, but the focus being on companionship. The Director started the service to make a difference in the local community and they always look for people who share the same values.
Could you support Wendy?
Wendy is 85 years old; she has lived in on her own since her husband, Gordon, died 4 years ago and has always been independent. Last year, Wendy had a fall whilst out shopping and it knocked her confidence somewhat. She stopped going out and even became scared of the stairs in her own house and would often sleep on the sofa rather than go to bed. She also wouldn’t leave her house, not even into the garden in case she had another fall. Wendy is typical of someone you would support. You would help her with daily routines that have become harder for her but also help to keep her independent and doing the things she has always done. This would be things like helping her with her morning, lunchtime, or evening routine and some elements of personal care. Getting her a bit of shopping, keeping her home tidy, helping to prepare meals and reminding her to take her medication. She also loves to get her photo albums and music records out and share her special memories over a brew. She’s got a lot of wonderful stories.
