Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion, Crawley

£9.00 - £10.00 per hour plus mileage allowance (double time on bank holidays)

Flexible part-time hours

Are you looking for a rewarding career? Would you like to make a difference to the life of an older person and someone like Mary*? Maybe you have considered Volunteer jobs?

There is no upper age limit for applications, becoming a Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion could be perfect for you. We have part time hours available in the Crawley, East Grinstead, Copthorne, Horley, Lingfield, Felbridge and surrounding areas of West Sussex. No experience is required as excellent training is provided. It is essential that you have a driving licence and access to a vehicle. There may be elements of personal care involved in this role.

Mary* is 79 years old, she has lived in on her own since her husband died 3 years ago and has always been independent. Last year, Mary had a fall whilst out shopping and it knocked her confidence somewhat.  She stopped going out and even became scared of the stairs in her own house and would often sleep on the sofa rather than go to bed. Mary* is typical of someone you would support, she still wants to get out and about, but confidence stops her, that is where you come in. You would help her with daily routines that have become harder for her, such as getting out of bed in the morning or keeping her home tidy, but also take her out and keep her independent and doing the things she loves. You may help her with her morning, lunchtime, or evening routine, getting washed and dressed or making a nice home cooked meal. Perhaps going shopping with her on Fridays or taking her to the hairdressers every Wednesday maybe? The feeling of helping someone is a feeling like no other.

Come and join the best!

You could be joining an award-winning national brand who focus on a companionship led care service. They have won multiple awards over the years and have built an excellent reputation within communities across the UK. The service was started on the Director’s personal experience of caring for his Grandparents and an understanding on how high-quality care can provide peace of mind to both clients and their families. This exceptional service is different to any other care organisation in the area, providing a minimum of 1-hour home visits helping older people remain independent at home.

Benefits & Hours

  • Flexible hours available - including early mornings, lunchtimes, afternoons, evenings and weekends;
  • Due to the nature of the client’s needs you must be available to work either every alternate weekend or one day of the weekend;
  • Mileage allowance;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Benefits scheme including discounts from high street shops;
  • Employee Assistance Programme to look after your well-being too;
  • Excellent training and support are provided;
  • The biggest benefit of all is making a difference every day, putting a smile on an older person’s face and being part of a wonderful team.

If you have a big heart and you are excited by this opportunity to become a Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion, then we would love to hear from you. Within their organisation if you shine opportunities are created.

** PLEASE NOTE this is not a Volunteer job, it is paid employment, however we are trying to attract those that would look for Volunteer type jobs.

*Joyce is just a typical example of someone you would support.
