Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion, Cleveland

£9.25- £18.00 per hour

Part time hours available

Are you looking for a rewarding career where you can make a difference? Would you like to make a difference to someone like Grace*? Maybe you have considered Volunteer jobs? There is no upper age limit for applications, becoming a Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion could be perfect for you.

We have part-time jobs available in the Cleveland & North Yorkshire area. It is essential that you hold a full driving licence and access to vehicle on daily basis, and you must be flexible and able to work mornings, evenings and alternate weekends.

My name is *Grace and I live at home in my own house with all my memories. Since my husband John passed away, I am very lonely. Things I used to find easy are now becoming difficult and I can’t keep up with my daily duties. I have a wonderful carer called Rebecca and she comes to see me 5 times a week. She helps to get me up in the morning, helps with my toileting; washed and dressed and makes my breakfast.

We sit and chat for a bit and then she will say goodbye, as I know she must go and visit someone else who needs help. Rebecca comes back to see me at lunch time, reminds me to take my medication and makes me a healthy meal. Whilst I am eating my lunch, she is very kind and does a little housework. She sometimes takes me out to the shops or to meet my friends for a cup of tea and a chat. Some days she may also come back to help me up the stairs to bed. I am so grateful for Rebecca, she is like my extended family and I don’t know what I’d do without her, I always look forward to seeing her.”

Come and join the best!

You could be joining a “CQC “Outstanding” service who focus on a companionship led care service.  They have won multiple awards over the years and have built an excellent reputation within communities across the UK. This exceptional service is different to any other care organisation in the area, providing a minimum of 1-hour home visits to a purely private client base, but the focus being on companionship. However, there may also be an element of personal care in this job. Imagine having Dementia but still being able to go to your dancing class on a Saturday, still being able to pick up your pension, still going to the theatre to watch a show.

You would be helping make these things happen every day!

Benefits & Hours

  • Part-time hours are available between 10-30 hours per week. (Unfortunately, we cannot offer school hours or full-time hours due to the nature of the work)
  • Enhanced rates of pay for early mornings, late evening and weekend work.
  • No experience necessary as full training is provided.
  • The biggest benefit of all is making a difference every day.
  • Becoming a Companion isn’t just a job, you will be gaining a friend too!

Do you have a big heart? The feeling of helping an older adult in your local community is truly wonderful and like no other. If you are excited by this opportunity, then we would love to hear from you.

** PLEASE NOTE this is not a Volunteer job, it is paid employment, however we are trying to attract those that would look for Volunteer type jobs.

*Grace is just an example of someone you will support
