“My name is *June and I have lived on my own for several years since my husband Terry passed away. My daughter Sue and 3 grandchildren live in New Zealand, so sometimes I can get very lonely and I can’t always do the things that used to be so simple. I have a wonderful small team of care companions who make such a difference to my life. One is called Bethany and she comes to see me 5 times a week. She will help to get me up in a morning, help me to get washed and dressed, assist with any personal care, and make me some breakfast and a cup of tea. It’s lovely to see a friendly face first thing in the morning.

“Some days Bethany will come back to see me at lunch time, she reminds me to take my medication and makes me a healthy meal. Whilst I am eating my lunch, she is very kind and does a little housework. Other days Bethany will take me out to do my shopping at the supermarket, or to get my hair done or to my local dance class on a Saturday, I love to dance and enjoy it so much. She may also come back later in the day to help me up the stairs to bed. I am so grateful for Bethany and the rest of my team, they are like angels in my eyes, I don’t know what I’d do without them. I always look forward to seeing them and they really brighten up my day.”
