Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion, Egham

£10.00 - £12.50 per hour

Flexible part-time hours

Are you looking for a rewarding career where you can make a difference to a person’s life? Maybe you are retired/semi-retired and have some spare hours to help an older person in your community to remain in their own home? If so, you could be the person we are looking for to be one of our Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companions. We are looking for kind-hearted people to support people like Mary* continue to do the things she loves and live life to the full.

We have part-time roles available throughout Egham, Staines, Virginia Water, Chertsey, Addlestone, Windsor and surrounding areas of Surrey and Berkshire. It is essential that you have a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Mary* is 87 years old and a retired Head Teacher and has always been independent whilst living in her own home. Last year Mary started to struggle with little things that so many of us find simple. She would struggle to follow simple steps such as following a recipe when cooking a meal, she might repeat a lot of things she has already said, and she wouldn’t be able to concentrate on her books like she used to. Daily routines have become harder for Mary* and so has getting out and about doing the things she enjoys. That is where you come in. You may help her with her morning, lunchtime, or evening routine, or support her with elements of personal care like washing, bathing and his morning routine. You might take her to her local singing group, music really helps her remember special memories from her past, or you might help her with her shopping, reminding her to take her medication or making a healthy meal.

Come and join the best!

You could be joining an award-winning national brand who focus on a companionship led care service.  They have won multiple awards over the years and have built an excellent reputation within communities across the UK. This exceptional service is different to any other care organisation in the area, providing a minimum of 1-hour home visits to a purely private client base, but the focus being on companionship.

Benefits & Hours

  • Flexible part-time hours up to 20 hours per week.
  • If you have a few hours availability between 7am - 9pm, then this position is ideal for you. (our busy times are early mornings/evenings and weekends).
  • Excellent in-house training and support is provided;
  • Opportunities for career progression;
  • The biggest benefit of all is making a difference every day.

This is more than just a job; you could have such a positive impact on a person’s life. Becoming a Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion to an older adult is not only rewarding, but you will be gaining a friend too. So, if you are excited by this opportunity, then we would love to hear from you, so please click apply.

*Mary is just an example of someone you would support.

** PLEASE NOTE this is not a Volunteer job, it is paid employment, however we are trying to attract those that would look for Volunteer type jobs.
