We are seeking part time people to become our next  Befrienders & Companions who live in the Epping, Ongar, Loughton, Waltham Abbey, Harlow and surrounding areas of Essex. This is a part-time job and you will need to be a car driver with access to your own car.

What would I be doing?

By becoming a Befriender & Companion you will be helping an older person in your local community not only combat loneliness but also help them stay independent. Everyone’s needs differ, some of our clients are more independent than others, you will be carefully matched to an older adult in your local area needing companionship and support.  This could vary from helping someone with their housekeeping, prepare or cook a meal, support someone to wash and dress, take someone out for the day to appointments or social activities so they can continue to enjoy the things they do? Could/do you:

  • Be a fantastic companion and friend?
  • Be caring, compassionate and patient?
  • Do you have a great personality and would make a fantastic befriender?
  • Be available for either early mornings, lunchtimes, evenings or a few hours at weekends?

Who would I be working for?

We are advertising on behalf of an award-winning provider who focus on a bespoke companionship led care service. They have won multiple awards over the years and have built an excellent reputation within communities across the UK. This exceptional service is different to any other care organisation in the area, providing a minimum of 1-hour home visits to a purely private client base, but the focus being on companionship. The owner of the business is very passionate about how our older people should be looked after in old age and understands what it takes to provide the highest standard of care and go above and beyond for those that need support.

Because we match you to our clients you will build up a close relationship with each other, you won’t be strangers. Could you:-

  • Have flexible, part-time, availability including some mornings, lunchtimes, evenings and alternate weekends?
  • Help someone with their housekeeping?
  • Help someone prepare or cook a meal?
  • Be a fantastic companion and friend?
  • Support someone to wash and dress?
  • Take someone out for the day to appointments or social activities so they can continue to enjoy the things they do?

Pay rates and Benefits:

  • Hourly rate: £10.25 per hour weekdays and £10.40 per hour at weekends and double pay on Bank Holidays.
  • We provide full training and a mentoring system to support you through your new role and support towards the Care Certificate.
  • Friendly and supportive office team.
  • Additional paid training in Dementia and End of Life.
