Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion, Bracknell

If you are looking for a new and rewarding career for 2020, then we could have what you are looking for. Do you have an unfulfilling job role that you want to swap for a role for life? Maybe you are retired/semi-retired, and you are looking for a role where you can give something back? A role where you can help an older person living in their own home stay independent? We have a value led approach, so need people with compassion, empathy and big hearts.  If this sounds like you, then becoming one of our Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companions could be perfect for you.

We have hours available in the Bracknell, Wokingham, Ascot, Camberley, Bagshot and surrounding areas. It is essential that you have access to suitable means of transport.

This is an example of the work our amazing team do:

I came across this role when my children had flown the nest and didn’t need me as much. I looked after my terminally ill Mum and I wanted to do something that was rewarding and where I could provide comfort to other families. This Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion role was just what I was looking for.

I support a few older adults in the area and each day is different. One of my clients Olive says she can’t wait for my visits and greets me with a hug every day, and that makes my day. Some mornings I will help her get out of bed, get washed and help make her breakfast. I thought I would struggle with the personal care part of the role, but I don’t. I realise it is no different to what I would do for a friend or relative and can be as simple as brushing her hair or help her finish getting dressed. Olive is living with early onset Dementia and would always sing just a few lines from her favourite song, but she can’t remember the name. I found out what it was called and now we play it on my visits, it’s now also become my favourite. This isn’t a job, it’s a privilege and I’m proud to do this and work for a marvellous company.”
