Would you like to make a difference to the life of an older person and someone like Alice*? Maybe you have considered Volunteer jobs? We have part time and full-time hours available in the Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside, Milnthorpe, Grange-over-Sands and surrounding villages of Cumbria.  THIS IS NOT A VOLUNTEER JOB, however we are wanting to attract people who are considering volunteering/making a difference.

  • £10.50 - £13.50 per hour (Double time on bank holidays), plus 25-45p per mile mileage.
  • Paid waiting time and travel time.

Alice is 87 years old, a vibrant retired lecturer from Lancaster University who has always been known as a social butterfly. Alice has always been very independent however over the years she has slowed down considerably. Alice still lives at home but has started to struggle with her daily activities and day to day life. When we met Alice, she told us that she wanted to stay at home as this is where her memories are, and she wanted structured support to help her at key points in her day. We visit Alice three times a day, morning, lunchtime and evening. Her small team of Carers help Alice to get up, washed or have a bath and dress. They also support Alice with her meals, whilst having a great laugh and a good natter. Alice loves to go to her dance class which her team takes her to on a weekly basis. Alice likes to get out and about to do her weekly shopping and also to make a pit stop at the local café for a lovely cup of tea and piece of cake. Our support has changed Alice’s life, and Alice has changed ours. We help her to continue doing the things she loves and living the life she wants to live whilst remaining safe and independent in her own home, it leads to a rewarding feeling like no other!

Benefits & Hours:

  • Flexible hours available. We are especially looking for people who have availability early mornings, lunchtimes, evenings or on alternate weekends.
