Support Companion & Befriender, Winchester

£10.00 - £12.50 per hour DOE

Part time hours


We are looking for an individual to work one to one with a friendly young lady living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder OCD close to Winchester, Hampshire as her Support Companion & Befriender.

OCD affects people differently, but usually causes a particular pattern of thoughts and behaviours. Almost everyone has unpleasant or unwanted thoughts at some point, such as thinking they may have forgotten to lock the door of the house, or even sudden unwelcome violent or offensive mental images.  People living with OCD sometimes have unpleasant thoughts that dominates their thinking to the extent it interrupts other thoughts.

As her Support Companion & Befriender your jobs would include doing activities with her at her home and accompanying her on walks by the sea and going to the cinema or theatre. You would be pivotal in distracting her from disturbing intrusive thoughts and compulsions, as well building a long-lasting friendship. This is truly a role where you can make a difference to a person’s life and help them continue to do the things they love.


What experience is required?


  • Having a driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred but not essential.
  • Are you reliable, flexible and have a good work ethic?
  • Are you naturally caring and dependable?
  • Do you have a DBS or are you willing to undergo a DBS check?
  • Due to the nature of this role, both professional and personal experience of OCD is preferred.
