We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Support Worker & Companion close to the Thirsk area of York, North Yorkshire.


It is just over a 10 minutes’ drive from Thirsk on the A19 towards Easingwold.

You can also get there on the following buses, 30 & 30X which run every hour to this location.

Due to the location it is preferred that you hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle, However, we will still consider your application if you live in commutable distance and can use public transport.

Who will you be supporting?

As a Support Worker & Companion, you will be supporting a vulnerable adult who has a great sense of humour, and loves practical jokes, to continue living in their own home. They are a very independent person and can managed their own personal care. You will be providing complex care to an adult who has mental health issues and is prone alteration in their mood. It will involve days out, helping the service user with their day to day life, such as domestic duties, cooking and managing their finances. You will help them to take part in activities and hobbies that they enjoy, including walks, gardening, animals and even going to their local pub for a cheeky drink every now and then. Helping someone to achieve their personal goals is a feeling like no other.

It is essential that you have a minimum of one-year experience working within Adult Mental Health. It is also preferred that you Have an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent care certificate. It is also important that you have a passion to helping adults living with disabilities and challenging behaviours.

  • £9.22 per hour, (£69.76 sleep overs) plus meal allowance for each shift.
  • Example of the shift pattern over a 24-hour period are 11:00am – 11:00pm then 11:00pm – 7:00am (8 Hour Sleep) finish with a 7:00am – 11:00am, followed by days off.
  • 21 days annual leave (rising to 25 days) plus bank holidays.
