Young at heart Home Care Assistant, Chester

£10.00 per hour (Double rate on Bank Holidays) + 20p-50p mileage allowance

Part-time hours available

Are you young at heart with no desire to retire, or have you already retired and looking for something to fill those spare hours you now have? Would you like to make a difference to the life of an older person, someone like Stanley*? Have you ever considered a job in the care sector?

There is no upper age limit for applications, becoming a Home Care Assistant could be perfect for you. We have part-time jobs available in the Chester, Blacon, Capenhurst, Saughall, Shotwick, Backford Cross, Mollington, Two Mills, Dunkirk, Sealand and surrounding areas of Cheshire. Experience is not essential as full training is provided. However, it is essential that you have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

*Stanley is not a real person; he is just an example of one or more of the older people you will visit.

Can you imagine the difference you would make to someone like *Stanley? Stanley could be 84 years old widower who has always been independent whilst living in his own home. Stanley may struggle with little things that so many of us find simple, like buttoning up his cardigan. He might struggle to follow simple steps such as standing long enough to cook a meal, he might repeat a lot of things he has already said.

Daily routines will become harder for Stanley* and sometimes he might forget to take his medication. That is where you would come in. You could help him with his morning, lunchtime, or evening routines, which will include washing, dressing, toileting and all aspects of personal care including prompting to take medication. You might help him to make a healthy meal or help with housework. You will be helping him continue to be himself and do the things he loves and remain in his own home, a rewarding feeling like no other.

Benefits & Hours:

  • If you have some availability early mornings, lunchtimes, afternoons, evenings and alternate weekends, then this position is ideal for you.

  • The biggest benefit of all is making a difference every day.
  • This isn’t just a job; you will be gaining a special feeling knowing you have helped somebody.
