Assistant Sous Chef

Job Description

We are recruiting for a full-time, Assistant/Sous Chef close to the Bristol area of Avon. This role is working term-time only.

This job is set within a lovely Special Educational Needs (SEN) school for children aged 7 – 19 living with SEN needs and disabilities. The role is located about a 25-minute commute from the centre of Bristol via the M32.

Key Information & Criteria

  • £21,655 - £23,165 per annum DOE.
  • Full-time, 40-hours per week (term-time only).
  • Monday – Friday, 07:30 – 18:00.
  • Experience working in a catering environment (school, residential or healthcare setting).
  • Working knowledge of COSHH regulations and food hygiene procedures.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene – desired.

Your Role

As their Assistant/Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in providing the nutritional needs for the pupils. Good food makes everyone feel better, so the role of the kitchen is vital in keeping the young people well-nourished and happy. The role will also involve:

  • Organise and assist in the preparation and presentation of all meals service.
  • Ensuring pupil nutritional needs are met adhering to dietary requirements.
  • Assistant the Head Chef in planning varied, balanced, and wholesome menus.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen & storage areas.
  • Ensuring stock levels are optimised.
  • Deputise in the Head Chef’s absence.
