Full-time, SEN Support Worker / Teaching Assistant, permanent job vacancy, Bristol, Avon.

This job is working for a specialist children’s provider supporting a young person living with Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs at home, school and in the local community. This role will include travel between Bristol and Berkeley, so may suit a candidate living nearby, or even candidates living close to Gloucester who can commute via the A38 or M5.

Key Information

  • £12.25 - £13.40 per hour DOE.
  • 40-hours per week, term-time only.

The Provider

We are recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s biggest providers of education, care and support for children and young people living with Special Educational Needs (SEN), SEMH needs, Autism, and disabilities. They have an impressive network of schools, colleges, and residential homes where all their talented teamwork with specialists to enable every young person to develop their abilities and create a positive future.

As their SEN Support Worker / Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a new specialist school who support children aged 11-16. Your role will be supporting a young person at home and in the community. The role will initially be outreach but will in time build up to time on site and in the school. The young person has a mixed education programme that you will assist with as well as helping them to build life skills and continuing with the activities they enjoy. The role will involve teaching and learning, liaising with parents, carers, and other agencies.

About You

  • Knowledge & experience of working with young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
  • Experience of working within a specialist education/school environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team & also work on your own.
  • Ability to build strong relationships.
  • Being enthusiastic, proactive, and having a passion for working within the sector.
