A Career in Adult Social Care

Your career in Adult Social Care would start as training to be an Adult Support Worker, supporting Adults of all ages from 18 years upwards to help them with their daily living skills and independence.  The adult you would support may have a learning Disability or Mental Health Condition which could be a mild disability, or some individuals have much more complex needs.  You would be carefully matched to one of the individuals we support, sometimes you may share similar interests or hobbies.  All the training and support you would need would be provided by us and then opportunities to progress are endless.

To support someone with a Learning Disability or Mental Health condition you do need some unique qualities, qualities that just come natural to some people.  Being caring, empathetic, calm, a fantastic role model as well as been an excellent team player.  One thing that is key is that you always protect the individual’s privacy, dignity and their welfare is always paramount.

  • Registered Area Manager (Learning Disabilities)

    Permanent, Full-Time job vacancy, Registered Area Manager (Learning Disabilities), Derby, Derbyshire, to oversee Supported Living/Residential services across the region.  

    The job could also suit someone living in Chesterfield (40-minute commute/28-miles via A38), Swadlincote (35-minute/15-miles via A38) and surrounding areas of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, or Staffordshire.

    • £34K - £40K per annum DOE.
    • Overseeing 4/5 Supported Living/Residential services.
    • Level 5 Leadership and Management or relevant Health & Social Care qualification.
    • Experience working with adults living with Mental Health/Learning Disabilities.
    • Experience in leading a Supported Living/Residential service.
    • Proven track record of service management & promoting continuous improvement.
    • Full driving licence essential.

    Your Role

    This Registered Area Manager job could be an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. You would be overseeing these new services. It would mean you would be leading the services from the start, setting the standards and values, and put your own stamp on the services.  

    The services are currently at zero occupancy and initially you would be hands on to get the services up and running, providing leadership and mentorship to the services. You would start recruiting your team across the area, support the day-to-day running, and ensuring the level of support is always of a high-quality.     Your Role

    As our Team Manager/Leader, you will provide clear, structured, leadership to the local teams, ensuring that the highest standard of care and support is always provided. The role will also involve:

    • Managing & overseeing the day to day running of the service.
    • Provide leadership & guidance, whilst supervising the team.
    • Safeguard the Company’s values and ethos.
    • Proactively assist in seeking out new opportunities for growing & developing the service.
    • Ensure the support provided meets and exceeds policies and procedures.

    Essential Criteria

    • You will ideally have previous experience in a Supported Living or Residential service setting.

    • Undertake and complete Health & Social Care level 3 or 4.
    • Undertake and complete Diploma in Management level 5 if relevant.
    • You will have experience of working with adults with Learning Disabilities or Mental Health conditions.
    • It is essential that you have a driving licence.
    • You will have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a dedicated staff team.

  • Part-Time Support Worker

    Permanent job vacancy, part-time Support Worker close to the Stockton-on-Tees area of Cleveland/Teesside to support a young 25-year-old man living with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy in his own home. Car Drivers preferred.

    This role is based in Yarm and is a 5.5-miles/15-minute commute via Yarm Road/A135.

    • £12.00 per hour weekdays plus occasional sleep-ins paid at £8.91 per hour. 
    • £13.00 per hour weekends (£19.50 per hour bank holidays).
    • Flexible, 25-hours per week, 6-days a week. 
    • Permanent contract following initial 6-month probationary period.
    • 28-days annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata).  
    • Experience in working with adults with disabilities/brain injuries is desired, but full training is provided.  
    • Having a positive, can-do attitude and friendly personality is much more important.
    • Dog friendly is preferred as our client has a dog.

    The gentleman is a fun-loving young man who lives in his own family home which is adapted for his needs. He is like any other 25-year-old, always active, sociable, and always doing something, whether that be a physio appointment or enjoying one of the activities he loves. He has several different and varied hobbies that he enjoys. He enjoys playing wheelchair football, horse riding, drumming, hospital radio flying, and more. Part of your role as one of his Support Workers is to keep him doing the things he loves and living life to the full.

    Your Role

    You will be part of a team providing 2:1 support to this gentleman. You will play a key part working alongside his family and a team of Therapists to support client’s ongoing rehabilitation. You will follow his specific care/support plan, ensuring his welfare, and safety at all times. There will be aspects of personal care involved in the role. You will gain valuable experience which would support a long-lasting career in the field.
