Full-time, Team Leader (Children’s Crisis & Respite), permanent job vacancy, Preston, Lancashire.

This job is a peripatetic role and will involve travel to different locations across the UK. So, it is essential that you can be away from home and that you have a driving licence. The role would be ideal for someone with extensive knowledge and experience of working in a Children’s residential setting as a Deputy or Senior, who has excellent leadership skills, and is looking for a new challenge and a more varied role.

• Up to £40K per annum includes paid travel time & mileage.
• Use of company vehicle if required.
• 42-hours per week may include some shifts.

The Provider

We are recruiting on behalf of a family-run business based in Preston. The young people they support are placed at the very heart of the service, they provide unconditional acceptance and compassionate care for each and every young person. They aim to empower young people to believe in themselves and see a clear, positive future. The services they offer vary from crisis/respite, residential, family support and welfare, and secure transportation. They work in collaboration with parents, teachers, social workers to ensure that each support plan is realistic and achievable.

Your Role

As their Team Leader (Children’s Crisis & Respite), you will be overseeing their Children’s Crisis Intervention & Respite service. The role is operational, and you will be managing a dedicated team of Children’s Support Workers across different short-term placements and services. You will be pivotal in managing lead times from referral to placements and coordinating your staff team, and arranging residential accommodation, short-break, and support for vulnerable children. It may be that you spend 2-3 days at a home to advise and coaching a team on the best way to support a child, or how to safely and securely transport a child from one service to another or conducting a welfare check with a family. Ultimately, the main function of your role will be to ensure the safeguarding and welfare of the young people.

About You

• Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People.
• Experience of working with young people with EBD.
• Minimum 2-years’ experience of working in residential setting at a Senior/Deputy/Supervisory/Management level.
• Excellent leadership, coaching & mentoring skills.
• Must be over the age of 25.
