Paid Volunteer & Care Companion

£10.50 - £13.50 per hour
 

Job Description

We have Part-Time hours available for all age groups, including people who are retired or semi-Retired in the Egham area of Surrey to become a Paid Volunteer & Care Companion. If you are looking for a part-time job or are not ready to retire, you have time to spare, or you would love to make a difference you could be perfect, especially for someone in your local community!

  • £10.50 – £13.50 per hour.
  • Paid Mileage after the first 10 miles, per day.
  • Flexible Part Time Hours.
  • Available for regular Early Mornings and/or Lunchtimes and/or Evenings & Alternative Weekends.
  • Being a car driver is essential.

We are unique, award-winning, and very proud of what we do. When we say Companionship led care, this is because every one of our Paid Volunteers & Care Companions are carefully matched so that the care provided is never awkward, you are more like a friend and an extension of their own family. It is also companionship led because we do so much more than just pop in, all our visits are a minimum of an hour, meaning we not only ensure that their care needs are met we also enjoy the time we spend together. So, rather than quickly popping in to check on someone we do activities together, go out and lots more

The Role

As a Paid Volunteer & Care Companion, you will spend your days keeping someone company, checking on their wellbeing, gaining a friend, & impacting someone else’s life!

  • Cooking breakfast, whether it’s porridge or a nice soft-boiled egg.
  • Helping someone with their morning routine.
  • Helping someone get in & out of the shower.
  • Taking someone out for the day.
  • Making cakes, playing cards, board games or watching game shows on the TV.
  • Helping with cooking meals and staying nourished and hydrated.
  • Offering companionship, friendship and a trusted friend who cares.
  • Assisting with medication reminders.
  • Providing evening companionship & preparing them for bedtime.

Our People

Most of our team have had previous careers such as Nurses, Police Officers, Estate Agents, Hairdressers, Retail Assistants, Senior Managers, just to name a few. Many join us because they have reached the time of their life where career isn’t as important as fulfilment, and many choose to do this job to do something they have always wanted to do. That is to give back to the local community and offer support to someone who really needs it. But we also have younger adults who work for us, gain experience and qualifications, and then go on to have a long-term career in the sector.   • Senior Care Assistant/Team Leader

    Full-time, Senior Care Assistant/Team Leader job vacancy, Camberley, Surrey – car driver essential.

    Key Information & Criteria

    • £20,748 per annum
    • Usual hours of work – Monday to Friday but will include on-call on rota basis.
    • May be some unsociable hours which does include some weekends.
    • Refer a friend bonus scheme & paid holidays.
    • Full training provided including accredited training & specialist development pathways.
    • Must hold or be working towards a Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a care setting.

    • Ensuring the highest standard of care is provided at all times.
    • Supervising/mentoring our carers.
    • Providing hands on care when required.
    • Supporting the Manager/Coordinator in the induction of care staff.
    • Conducting regular supervision of staff.
    • Creating care plans & undertaking Risk Assessments.
    • Medication monitoring & management.
    • Liaise with clients, their families, and other relevant authorities.
    • Taking part in on-call rota.
