Service Manager (FTC)
Leeds, West Yorkshire


The Healthy Happy Lives Support Service supports the needs of older people in local communities. Through helping people reconnect with their community or activities of interest, the service aims to reduce the overall impact of isolation and loneliness in older people whilst increasing their independence and mobility.

The Role

As a Service Manager, you will lead and manage the delivery of fun and engaging activities for older people as part of our Neighbourhood Network for Chapel Allerton, Roundhay and Meanwood.

As part of your role, you will oversee the effective day-to-day co-ordination of staff and volunteers, manage the budget and ensure all activities comply with relevant policies, procedures and regulations.

We’re currently looking for a Service Manager to join our team on a full-time, fixed-term contract until September 2023.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

- Managing a team of Service Co-ordinators and volunteers who provide the services in the local area involving co-ordinating where services will be delivered and who will deliver them
- Regularly visiting the three service locations to provide support to staff and volunteers
- Promoting the services on social media to increase the number of service users
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key local contacts – growing the profile of our services by engaging with healthcare providers, other volunteer groups and families to promote referrals
- Managing the recruitment, induction, development and motivation of staff and volunteers. This will involve appraisals, weekly meetings, development plans and recruiting new team members and volunteers
- Being responsible for managing the Leeds office which will include approving invoices, overheads and other general administrative duties
- Monitoring the service budget, specifically service income and expenditure. This is managing a high spend across all services

Working Hours

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) which will initially involve working from the local office or service sites. However, there are opportunities for remote working once the role has been embedded.

What you’ll need

- Experience of working at supervisory / management level
- An understanding of the NHS and Health and Social Care Bodies would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- The initiative to regularly identify positive outcomes and benefits to service users to feed back to funding bodies
- The ability to proficiently use standard IT systems, particularly Excel
- A proactive approach towards managing remote teams and services
- A full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be an advantage
- This role will require a DBS check
